Supporting Writers

Writing.jpg

At Oak Spring, we recognize the value of supporting writers in a variety of disciplines. Our Writing Awards, including our Oak Spring Fellows and Women Writers in Residence Program, aim to support plant science and conservation practitioners needing time to advance writing projects, as well as visionary women writers with ideas and stories to share.

If you are interested in utilizing OSGF’s resources to advance your work but our Writing Awards don’t seem relevant to you, we also offer Artist Awards and Research Awards.

Writing Awards

We are now accepting applications for our 2020 Writing Awards, including our Oak Spring Fellows program and our Women Writers in Residence Program. Scroll down for more details on each of these programs.

2020 Oak Spring Fellows:

In 2020, the Oak Spring Garden Foundation will award up to three Oak Spring Fellowships for emerging scholars or practitioners working in organismal plant science or plant conservation who need undisturbed time to complete a writing project that advances their scholarship or practice. To learn more, read our 2020 Oak Spring Fellows flier. Applications are due August 11, 2019.

Women Writers in Residence – a collaboration with Hedgebrook:

We are very proud to work with Hedgebrook – a literary nonprofit supporting visionary women writers – to host a 3.5 week Women Writers in Residence program on the Oak Spring estate. Read our blog post about this opportunity to learn more and see how to apply. Applications are due July 23, 2019.
