Access the Collection
We are actively working to make the Oak Spring Garden Library collection easily accessible to the public online. We are currently in the process of implementing our new online digital catalog, which will ultimately allow artists, scholars, and scientists the ability to search the entirety of our holdings from anywhere in the world. Our library catalog will continue to expand daily until it represents our full collection of over 19,000 objects, including rare books, manuscripts, and works of art dating back to the 14th century. Use the EOS search tool below to explore our collection by keyword, author, title, and more.

We are also working to digitize materials in the collection and upload them to the Internet Archive, allowing users to virtually flip through entire volumes of rare books. Beginning with materials unique to the Oak Spring Garden Foundation collection, we will continue to add material to this virtual collection to provide researchers better access to our library from anywhere in the world. You can see which items are available on the Internet Archive by clicking the button below.
Oak Spring Catalogues
The Oak Spring Garden Library has published four discursive catalogs that are accessible for free as digital books and available for purchase in hard copy. An Oak Spring Sylva (1989), An Oak Spring Pomona (1990), An Oak Spring Flora (1997) and An Oak Spring Herbaria (2009), highlight some of the most influential and unique pieces in Bunny Mellon's collection pertaining to trees, fruit, flowers, and herbs.
All four volumes are now freely available as searchable e-books here. It is yet another step in our ongoing efforts to make the Library collection available to those who can learn from and be inspired by our wealth of materials.
