Overview:
Join us at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation’s Gallery and Gift Shop for a festive holiday shopping experience! Invited guests are welcome to drop in during open hours to explore a curated selection of gifts, seasonal specialties, and treasures inspired by the natural world.
The Gift Shop features favorites from our Biocultural Conservation Farm, including our signature curry peach BBQ sauce and tomato chutney, alongside Moroccan woven market baskets, felt ornaments, new Bunny and Snowy notecards, and Snowy Campbell prints perfect for framing.
New this year, discover our limited-edition 2026 Christmas ornament, inspired by the sculptural finial designed by Jean Schlumberger, the celebrated Tiffany & Co. designer and close friend of our founder, Bunny Mellon. Once crowning Mrs. Mellon’s formal greenhouse, the finial features an exuberant bouquet of flowers rising from an urn, crafted in lead and copper. This special ornament celebrates a remarkable work of art and a friendship rooted in artistry and a shared reverence for nature.
In the Gallery, explore holiday-themed treasures from the Oak Spring Library alongside our latest exhibition, Painting the Tulip: Beauty, Science and Speculation, tracing the tulip’s remarkable journey from its cultivation in the Middle East in the 16th century, through Europe’s famed “Tulip Mania,” to the present day.
The Holiday Market will be open three consecutive Tuesdays in December from 2:00 - 5:00 PM:
Tuesday, December 1, 2026
Tuesday, December 8, 2026
Tuesday, December 15, 2026
Please note, guests will not have access to the library, formal garden, or main residence.
About Oak Spring Garden Foundation: The Oak Spring Garden Foundation (OSGF) is a philanthropic foundation based at the former primary estate of the late Paul and Rachel 'Bunny' Lambert Mellon, who were major philanthropists in the U.S. of the arts, humanities, and sciences in the second half of the twentieth century. OSGF is located in the northern Virginia Piedmont and Blue Ridge Mountains region (ca. one-hour drive from Washington, D.C.). Led by Sir Peter Crane, the Foundation’s inaugural President, OSGF provides short courses and supports residencies for artists and scholars. Its celebrated Library comprises rare books, manuscripts and works of art relating to horticulture, landscape design, botany and natural history. It is becoming a new center of stimulation of all things botanical, from fundamental research in plant evolution and conservation, to horticultural and plant conservation practice, to the history and art of plants, gardens and landscapes.
